MapPoster is a browser-based map poster generator that lets anyone design personalized city map art for free. Users search for any location on Earth, customize visual themes, colors, text overlays, and markers, then download a print-ready poster file instantly or order it as a printed poster. Designing and downloading happen in the browser; a design is only sent to MapPoster's servers when it is ordered as a print, to make the print file.

## Design a Poster in Claude

MapPoster also works inside Claude, as a connector in Claude's Connectors Directory: add it from https://claude.ai/directory/connectors/map-poster (no account or sign-in; more at https://mapposter.xyz/claude/) and describe the poster you want, for example "a map poster of where we met in Paris, with a heart on the spot, as an anniversary gift" or "a black and white map of our new neighborhood as a housewarming gift". Claude designs the poster and shows it in the chat, with other styles to try on it, a download, and a link that opens it in the editor to fine-tune it or order it printed. Any MCP client can connect to https://mcp.mapposter.xyz/mcp.

## Design a Poster in ChatGPT

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Q: How do I download my custom map?**

**Q: What file formats do I receive?**
A: A premium download comes in the format you choose: JPEG, PNG, WebP or PDF at 300 DPI, or SVG (vector, sharp at any size) with an Artistic theme.

**Q: Can I print these posters at home?**
A: Yes. The files are compatible with all home printers. For best results, use high-quality matte or luster photo paper.

**Q: Are the map details accurate?**
A: MapPoster uses high-precision data from OpenStreetMap contributors. Every street, park, river, and coastline is accurately represented.

**Q: Is MapPoster free to use?**
A: Yes, MapPoster is free — no account or signup required. Free downloads are 1080p with a small watermark. Premium high-resolution exports (up to 7200px) without watermark are $6.99 per download. No subscription.

**Q: How large can I print the poster?**
A: A premium download prints sharply up to 18 × 24 inches (A2) at 300 DPI: it is 7200 pixels on every device (MapPoster's server makes it for phones and tablets). Printed posters come in A4, 12 × 18, 16 × 20 and 18 × 24 inches, at 300 DPI from any device. Standard downloads are 1080p, good for 8×10 inches or digital use.

**Q: Can I order a printed poster?**
A: Yes. In the editor, choose Order a print and pick a poster (A4, 12 × 18, 16 × 20 or 18 × 24 inches, or square 30 × 30 or 50 × 50 cm), a framed print in black, white or oak, or a canvas, then enter the address. Prices start at $24.99 (also in EUR and GBP) with shipping included; Gelato prints and ships the poster to the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, New Zealand, Japan, Brazil and Mexico.

**Q: Can I design a map poster in a chat with Claude or ChatGPT?**
A: Yes. Add the MapPoster connector at mapposter.xyz/claude and describe the poster: the place, the occasion and the text. Claude designs it in the chat, where you can try other styles, download it, or open it in the editor to fine-tune it and order a print. In ChatGPT, add MapPoster as described at mapposter.xyz/chatgpt and ask the same way. No account is needed.

**Q: Can I add a custom title or text to my poster?**
A: Yes. The text overlay editor lets you change the city name, add a subtitle, include GPS coordinates, or write any custom text. You can adjust the font, size, position, and background style.

**Q: Do you offer commercial licenses?**
A: Premium downloads made with an artistic theme may be used personally and for limited commercial purposes, such as decorating your business premises, a gift to a client or illustrating a single post or article. Selling posters, or products that show them, needs the Commercial Use Licence that comes with the MapPoster API's Starter, Pro and Business plans (mapposter.xyz/developers). Free (watermarked) downloads, and posters made with the map-tile styles Classic Street and Satellite View, are for personal use only. Every poster carries its map credit, which must stay on it. Details: Terms of Service, section 3 (mapposter.xyz/terms).

**Q: Does export quality depend on my device?**
A: No. A premium download is 7200px on every device: a computer makes it in the browser, and MapPoster's server makes it for phones and tablets. The free 1080p download is the same quality on all devices.
